"Well... this shadow in particular, is mine. I call him Matchitehew, a Native word for 'He who has an evil heart'. Since I'm a Wild Card, a Persona User who can use more than one persona, he has a mentality all his own that's much more dangerous than that of a typical shadow." He began to explain.

"... That sounds ominous but also exceedingly odd. Just continue," Archer muttered.

"He uses this seperate mentality to create his own will. And mainpulate any abilities that I once posessed. He is exceedingly strong and until recently, I had him sealed away in the artic wastes. Now, since that world was lost to darkness, he's been set free. And God knows what he's planning. No doubt something vile in a scheme to incapacitate me. Once he kills me, there is no control to his power, he'll grow stronger the longer he's alive after I'm gone." Nick said plainly.

Aleri's confidence dropped several notches as Dante's pet tossed him around like a ragdoll. Eventually, he tensed up and leapt away, wincing. "That's enough... damage... for now...! Try to... heal me... with Cure."

Dante walked over and tolf paul to go back home. "Okay, let's see" ge started as tried to bring up enough energy to cast the spell. "Cure" he said as Aleri slowly felt the gashes, cuts and bruises close or sooth themselves. In the end, he had two very large claw marks on his chest

Aleri grimaced. "...Try to ignore my expression when I say this, but that was pretty good! Cure, when cast properly, can be just as good as Cura, the second-level Cure spell. Well... I say that, but if your Cure is as good as Cura, then your Cura's gonna be even better. Anyway, just heal me the rest of the way. I'd say it'll take one, maybe two more casts at most. Then, we'll work on Esuna."

Dante reach out tl a gash and focused kn it closing up, snd poured some magic inst it.

Aleri nodded as he was restored to full health. "Alright, I'm gonna give myself the Blind Status. Don't try anything while I'm blinded, I can sense my surroundings anyway. Blind doesn't hinder me much." He threw some powder in his eyes, realizing only a second late that it would hurt like hell.

"Auuuuuuugh! ...Gkghk... ...Ok-k-kay, now try c-curing it... with Esuna. Picture a feeling of ease, calmness, awareness, and general normalcy. See, most magic is basically projecting your mental image onto reality, so... you could make a spell especially for curing one ailment, but Esuna is easiest to remember, and works on everything. And another thing; it's easier to heal something when you've been afflicted with it before."

"So if I stabbed out your eyes, would Esuna still apply? Or is that surgery"

"Well... it would take a Cure spell to heal the damage to my eyes, then Esuna to restore sight to them. ...You're not going to try it, are you? J-just use Esuna. Oh, yeah, I forgot."

[Dante learned Cure!]

"Sorry, I was a little late, there, with the prompt. I just wanted a little fanfare to celebrate your mastery over Cure, and you having taken your first step to mastering White Magic."

Dante shook his head. "It's like we're in some sort of fan made website where they invented our entire past present and future" he said then slowly looked to the sky. "But that woyld be silly...right?" He said before starting to Use his new spell to heal Aleri's eyes, but somehow made the right eye lose sight entirely and the left one heal half way.

Aleri blinked a few times. "Bah, you're not doing so well with this one. This one's actually pretty much an issue of concentration. If you can use it on one little thing, you can use it on a variety off things all at once. It's either win or lose, no partial victories. I'd say that there was a loss. Mind trying again?"

He nodded, remembering Aleri was techincally almost 75% blind and said "yes sir" before he healed Aleri's left eye first, then the other with a bit more concentration.

Aleri blinked as his vision returned. "...Okay, now try this." He took a vial of green liquid out of his pocket and drank it. His face paled, and he doubled over, his whole body shaking. "Gkkgkh... Y-yeah, that's Poison. Try curing it like you did with Blind, but focus less on the eyes, and more on the veins and blood..."

What am I, a masochist!? I must be enjoying this somehow...

He swallowed and focused on the posion in his veins, imaging it dispersing from Aleri's body, and the waves of sickness and pain slowly faded. "This is fun"

Aleri shrugged. "I can imagine. You get to watch me hurt myself, then heal me. I mean, it's probably hilarious to watch, and you're learning skills that'll get rid of the most annoying obstacles in combat situations."

The poision was neutralized, and Aleri was able to stand up straight. "You did pretty well with curing Poison. Try this." He took out a short, black bat with a star-like pattern. "I'm going to Confuse myself. To heal it, focus on clarity of mind. I warn you, Confuse will probably make me attack you. You may need to dodge a couple of drunken swings from TELOS, but that should only really serve to disturb your concentration."

"I'll snap out of it after a while, or if you hit me, so try to use Esuna quickly." He smacked himself in the face with the bat, dropping it. He began to stumble around, clutching his weapon. His eyes fell upon Dante, but were unable to identify him as a friend. "Who'zat...? Ahmma smashem..."

The only thing the child caught properly was 'Smash'em' and without hesitation started to cast Esuna, trying to imagine Aleri with a clear mind.

Aleri immediately snapped back to reality, shaking his head vigorously. "Dang, that was fast. Most people have trouble with that one. Well, let's wokr on the next one..." He pulled a spool of thred from his pocket, then unraveled it, spinning in place, covering himself with it.

"This is Spider Silk. It inflicts Slow. Actually, it inflicts Slow twice, but that's beside the point. Just picture me moving at normal... you know what? I think you get the picture." Aleri's gestures during his short speech were slowed down, as if he were swimming in molassess. His mouth seemed to work just as fast as ever, though.

Dante walked up and pushed Aleri over like he was a cow before going back to his original position and focusing on restoring normal speed

Aleri's face (slowly) shifted from an expression of utmost focus on the task at hand... to utter indignity. Unfortunately, while he was Slow'd he still fell just as fast. He was unable to regain his balance before slamming into the ground.

"I'll... get you for this...!"

As soon as he as restored, he stood up and brushed himself off. "...Okay, l-let's forget that for now. How about I teach you Slow and Haste, while we're still working on that? To cast Slow, picture me moving like I was before. To cast Haste, think of yourself moving faster than you thought possible. Then, we'll wrap up our lesson on Esuna."

He closed his eyes, then imagined Aleri slowing down to a different pace

<I was under the impression that Slow was Black Magic because it's an ailment and Haste is White Magic because it's a buff. Or did Al learn to inflict status ailments between posts?>
