...I seem to recall saying my best PS3 game was P4A. Then again, when you're up against such gems as Sonic '06, I guess it's not ENTIRELY unreasonable.

All the same, I grew up on the DBZ Budokai series...okay, I'm lying, I grew up on Budokai 3, but it's still a phenomenal game! I might be looking through my nostalgia-glasses, but I don't care as long as I enjoy the game. And I do.

Fighting games actually are up there with RPGs in terms of my favorite genre, so I will take your prior recommendations into account next time I visit...anywhere that sells video games.

Equating? I said it's relatively reasonable to assume I'm not huge into fighters when my best game exists alongside...that one. I'm far from equating them, I'm saying there's a complete lack of competition. My second-best is Generations, and even then, Arena is leagues beyond it. I never equated '06 to Arena. Far from it.

Though I will say that '06 is only the second or third worst game in that series. Ranking below it are: Sonic Heroes (Which I've had more glitches and more pain and more slipping and more UGH with) and...Sonic 3D Blast. I could tell from the moment I picked up the controller that that game was going to suck. It's ballstastically boring and plays like sh*t. It's so bad...I couldn't even rage at it. It was not worth the effort of rage. It was just sickening.

Well, I for one say that '06 was the worst because of how it was supposed to be a big deal. Imagine if KHIII came out, and it was about as good as... let's say, CoM. We would all be PISSED at it for not meeting our expectations, and regressing to a quality level that the series had surpassed. It was poorly-designed, under-developed. And for the record, the PS2 version of Heroes is terrible, while the GC version is just fine. Still got the stupid design choices, but it doesn't glitch up the ass. 3D Blast is merely an escort title, so it gets slack because nobody EXPECTS it to be good. Like Sonic Spinball or Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. Or Sonic Labyrinth. Or Sonic Genesis, the GBA port of the first Sonic the Hedgehog game, only butchered to hell and unplayable.

Bottom line, Sonic '06 sucks worst because it was supposed to be amazing, revolutionary, groundbreaking, unrivaled... It was going to be put on a pedestal. It was done by a major company, as a major f*cking game title! It wasn't some two-bit cash-in that SEGA outsourced to some inexperienced team, it was a serious, major, full-effort project! Imagine if the fight between Nexas and Xeromus sucked ass. No... imagine if the Observers fought a major, epic battle, long-awaited and foreshadowed, built up to be the most cataclysmic and bad-ass event in history, and IT BOMBS. A total dud. THAT is the disappointment that Sonic '06 embodies, the reason it is the WORST GAME IN SONIC HISTORY. It almost killed the franchise, and was the low point in the Dark Age of Sonic.

Now that my OWN rant is over - what? I was feeling left out - back to the subject.

Yeah, ToS2 is pretty dumb. I know; I have a copy. It was my first Tales series game. Pretty sad, huh? Well, now I have Abyss, so screw that. Tales of Symphonia itself, though, it amazing, or so I hear. Worth every penny. I need to hunt down a copy... And native to the PS3 is the newest title, Tales of Xillia. Apparently, sales are bad, and while Japan already has Tales of Xillia 2, we might not see the series ported over here again if sales stay low like this... but that makes me question WHY the sales are bad. Do people with good taste avoid PS3, or maybe it's not really as good as the rest of the series...?

Oh, yeah. If you can, try getting Tales of the Abyss. I HIGHLY recommend it. It's originally a PS2 game, but you might find it on PSN, like P3FES.

ANYway, what I was originally planning to say was this: sales are bad because in America, Tales is not a hugely popular series. Because half of the so-called "gamers" shun things like Persona, or Kingdom Hearts, or hell, even Mario, and fawn over their precious FPS games which lack story, character, or even gameplay. Sales are bad because America doesn't seem to have great taste in games, so the reason we don't see more of the series and its crossovers is that Namco doesn't really see a point in bringing insert-game-here overseas.

It just isn't that popular. I don't know why, considering its competition includes gold like...um, sports games and FPSes that have no draw. Or maybe it's those TPS games that also have no real draw. Or maybe it's those games that you can tell only exist because the creator companies think video games are popular just because they're video games. Y'know, like that one "Fossil Fighter" game...I really don't understand Americans...

I've actually seen some decent TPS games that have decent story and gameplay while still being fun as FUCK (Mass Effect via proxy [watched a few people play]) and Army of Two: Fortieth Day. Both are flipping AWESOME and they appeal to the 'mainstream' American audience and then there's Borderlands, which is a FPS, and perhaps the only FPS to date that I like. The reason Americans as a whole don't like games like FF, Mario, or anything that isn't dripping in it's own gore, is because of preconceived notions of masculinity and, perhaps, a small amount of xenophobia and quite definitely ethnocentrism. Furthermore, people like the online gaming features and are willing to pay for online experiences which furthers the market. Then there's also the stipulation of the demographic a lot of RPGs appeal to. I think most companies want to sell so many copies of a game and have it be at least moderately successful before they even contemplate sending it across shores, and since the USA has Microsoft, XBox gamers won't have to worry about a new release coming out in another country but not America. Ergo, this is why XBox games cater to the willing, stupid, super-casual and hardcore FPS gamers with Kinect and Call of Duty respectively.

Ugh... I could write an essay on this, and I feel like I should say more, but I won't... not now, anyway.

Don't ever mention Fossil Fighters in front of me again! ...Er, putting it less dramatically, I agree, it's stupid. My sister adores the game, for some ungodly reason.

Actually, the version of Abyss I have IS the 3DS one. I hear the PS2 version had some slightly annoying load-times, and game-freezing glitches could occur when using Mystic Artes. It's great, except that I have to borrow a 3DS to play it...

Damn modern "gaming"... damn it to hell. They're choking out the quality games, polluting the market with absolute sh*t, releasing what's basically the same games, over and over and over again! It's this kind of sh*t that gets me thinking about world domination! It's deplorable! Assholes playing CoD are to blame for this?! To hell with them! They can play their crappy, cookie-cutter games, but they better damn well not damage the sales and distribution of quality!

Speaking as someone who HAS a ps2 copy of Abyss and is in fact currently PLAYING it... I can say this....yea some of the loading times are slightly annoying, but it is MINIMAL compared to others I've seen, as far as the glitches during mystic artes...I have yet to EVER have that occur *shrugs*

I've got to agree with you, Neb, most CoD games are pretty lackluster. The only reason I have BO2 is because of some OK split-screen gameplay, and wave-style Zombies. Not all FPS games are bad (Borderlands is a good example), but the constant repetition, by Holy... I mean, the only games I'm looking forward to are either RPGs, open world action (Assassins' Creed), or fighting games.

My friend has actually been pushing me HARD to get Borderlands or Borderlands 2, but...well, I'm poor. Despite being able to afford a bunch of other games. Once again, natural aversion to any FPS that isn't on my computer.

Aside from Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64, and maybe the Mario Party games (1-3), I have just about no nostalgia for any old games that I have played or own.

And I think Borderlands would fit you to a T, Haar. You can explode psychotic midgets who are so small they get blasted twenty feet back by their own shotgun. You can punch your tank of a car like it's weightless. And EVERYONE you meet is fucked up.

Welp, that was probably the quickest I've given in to someone telling me I should buy a game. I was at a store that was near a GameStop, so I went in and picked up Borderlands and another game (Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers). Probably the main reason is because I've seen a bit of Borderlands and how completely insane it is.

I recommend that if you're playing solo to play as Brick or the Siren, but if you're doing co-op with a friend or two pick the Soldier and Sniper, and then the Siren.

I can't help you much after that: it's been a while since I've played and due to the random weapon engine, I can't offer advice there. So... eh. I like giving gaming advice, so sorry if I inundate you with it.

No worries! I've wanted to start LPing for a while now for that same reason, but I have no means of getting the equipment I'd need...namely a capture card...and a mic...or a computer that doesn't lag like the devil when I so much as attempt to run any emulator after the GBA era.

Yeah, computer lag is the biggest issue I've seen. Research it up, I hear a decent mic will do, it's more of a capture card thing. I'm lucky to have a computer that runs PCSX2 at a sweet solid sixty fps, but only most of the time. Eh heh...

If I wanted to do guides, though, I'd separate them from my LPs.

@Haar In Borderlands, anything that's a blue, purple or orange are usually good weapons. Keep an eye out for green weapons and stuff as well.
