Tim nodded, and cracked a smile, "Yeah, you're right." He clapped Max on the shoulder and headed for the door. It was time to do what was right, he just had to get his dad's hat, and he was out of here.

The guard told Tim, "Grab what you need from your quarters and return to the meeting hall once you are done." With that, the guard led the other three to the meeting hall and unlocked a large door near once side of it. Opening the door, he waved them through to a small room with four backpacks full of goods and a large circular steel door with a simple control panel nearby.

Tim nodded and headed back to his room, his old room. He smiled, as he picked up his dad's old hat. He promised himself he would find out what ever "yankee" was. He placed it on his head and headed out the door and down to meeting hall.

Seth picked up one of the packs and put it on his back

Naxius grabbed one of the packs, slinging it on his back.

Standing in the open door, the guard waves Tim through before turning towards the inside of the room and addressing them. "Once you have your gear situated and are ready to leave, close this door. Once it is locked, you will be able to activate the Vault door. Good luck, we're all counting on you."

As the guard starts to leave, Max slings his pack on.

Tim finds a pack next to Max. He slings it on, before turning to lock the door. "Let's do this."

Seth pocketed his puzzle and crossed his arms. "I hope this isn't going to get us killed...actually if I was worried about that, I wouldn't be here"

Naxius nodded in reply.

Max stepped forward and placed his hand on the switch to open the door. "Well, here goes nothing." Bringing his hand down, an alarm started to go off in the room, only to be drowned out by the sound of screeching metal as the door was pulled inwards before rolling to one side.

Max took a few steps towards the space when a grotesque looking skeleton fell in through the opening and crashed to the ground. Max was forced to jump back as on of the twisted horns on the skull passed through where his shoulder was a second ago.

Seth's hand went straight for his revolvers but relaxed once he saw it was nothing. "You alright?" He asked walking closer to Max.

Naxius' eyes widened. "What the hell is that?"

[Aesoth]

Max pushed himself off the floor, having fallen as he jumped out of the way. Brushing himself off, he responded to Seth with a quick nod. Crouching down next to the skeleton, he took note of three things.
A: The skull with a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and the bone structure of the rest of the body meant a bipedal predator.
B: Someone had removed the hand/paw and half the lower limb for both of the skeleton's arms.
C: The skeleton was radioactive, easily understood by the slight crackling heard from Max's Pip-Boy when he touched the skull.
Taking his hand of the skull, Max told the other three what he observed about the body.

Naxius' expression didn't change. "If that thing is dead, I do not want to find out what killed it."

[Atlantis_Rising]

Tim crouched next to Max, "Well, the missing limbs were cut off," he pointed where the arms had been dismembered, "so I'm more afraid of the reason of the kill, more than the killing itself." He stood up and placed his hand over his eyes, to shield them from the sun.

"We need to get moving. I don't want to be running around when that sun goes down."

Naxius nodded. "Good idea."

Seth chuckled. "Agreed, anything that looks like that in death must be deadly while its alive"

Max gingerly walked around the skeleton and took a few steps out the door. The entrance to the Vault seemed to have been built in the side of a small hill. Near the bottom of the hill, ruins and husks of old buildings were spread out before them. Of what he can see from the hill the only major structures left standing are a partially destroyed high school to the north and a squat building far to the south-east that he would not have noticed were it not for the giant sign reading 'Super Duper Mart'.
Max called over his shoulder, "Hey guys, come take a look at this!"

Tim came up beside his friend, and took in the sights. He saw the school and 'Super Duper Mart.' He also noted the little creek running across an old, weed-ridden, broken piece of road. He swallowed hard as he realized that there was nothing moving. The wind wasn't even blowing. It was as if the this wasteland had given up on its own hope at life. "Time for a resurrection," he thought to himself.

Naxius surveyed the land around him. "...No wonder they built the Vaults."

Seth walked up beside the others, taking in the emptiness before them. "This wasteland...this probably was once such a wonderful city" He whispered as he looked around slowly.

Turning to the others, Max asked, "Where do you think we should head? We won't be able to get that far before the sun goes down and the school and that mart are the only places standing around here."

Naxius said, "I think the mart would be best, as it's small, easy to barricade, and it may have additional supplies... like Twinkies."

Seth nodded. "I vote for the mart as well...and what the hell is a Twinkie?"
