Re: Team Obsidian OOC
Agreeing on the outcome for Purrloin VS Electrike match. Teaches me not to look at the abilities of my opponents. XD Still, I think this serves as a neat lesson to me and my OC both. ^^
I'm gonna write up one more post with Electrike hitting out with another Tackle, but feel free to show Electrike being KO'd by your next move, Aesoth.

Lol. Currently I don't have to worry over that due to Mummy from Yamask. If nothing else, Protect works.

Bob I hope you read this cause it's going to become relevant real soon, but what about the "cliffs?" The little ledges you hop down on? Can we simply ignore them as far as maps go, or do we have to take them into consideration?

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
Gotcha. I was concerned about this as Route 115 is otherwise impassable without them. XD I think we should have the Water trainer be a sort of ferryman, as we can't get to Sootopolis and the other water areas without them.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
We should have Dive/Surf capabilities by Sootopolis. I was just going to use a "descendent" of Mr. Briney for Dewford/Slateport.
Re: Team Obsidian OOC
Let's be sure to mix things up. In the games, once you have Surf, you never have to worry about having to look for an alternative to sea travel again, unless you store your HM and any Pokemon who can learn Surf in your PC. As well as all your fishing rods.
If only one character can Surf, then that should work out fine for the story, and not so well from the in-story perpective. Some people will be unable to reach places others can.
And let's try not to do things in too much of a linear fashion. We should revisit past locations fairly often.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
That's true. HMs were super-rare in the manga, let alone the games. Finding a surfing Pokemon would be hard. And I agree with Gregar that revisiting locales should be implemented. However, I deem it at least partially unfair to others that wouldn't be able to get to the other locations. Maybe we could implement some sort of story device? Maybe waveboards or something similar? We could have them travel slower than Pokemon if it would help.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
We should basically make it so that such methods are unreliable. You know, so they will break down at inconvenient times, so that people can't do things. One could easily have some local fishermen hanging around on any given beach, perfectly willing to give a ride to a group of trainers. The cable car could be really finicky about when it wants to work, so one group may be able to reach the volcano while the rest can't. There could be insane cultists hanging out on Mount Pyre who won't let people enter while they're doing whatever it is their cult does. Just make-

Why wouldn't he let you pass before? He was just grouchy or something. Same for that guy who forces you to go back and get your Pokedex, just because he hasn't had his coffee.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
You know since Nebula mentioned mixing things up a thought came to my mind. If the setting is 50 years after the events of Emerald and blah blah blah, and Team Obsidian has had a tyranny over the land for 10 years, then who's to say the land hasn't changed ANY during that time? For Example: Where going Northeast from Oldale required surf it no longer does because say the water dried up or something? *shrugs* Just a thought I had.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
I think it'd take a bit more than ten years to dry that much water, personally. Of course, we don't know how deep it is, so it might be wading depth by then, or something, I dunno, it might still be there, I personally was assuming the land hadn't changed much since, y'know, hundreds/thousands/millions of years for significant differences.
Also, weird thing about the Viridian Coffee Guy. In the Japanese version, he was drunk, but America had to be boring and lame and censor that. DAMN YOU FCC!!!

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
Well Im thinking outside the box here. Its an evil organization right? you dont think that in 10 years they could accomplish an evil scheme to say drain all the water from an area to kill off/capture water pokemon?
P.S. the drying up thing was more over 50 years and trust me a small body of water can dry up in that time. Evidence of lake's all around me being dry beds. And they werent 20 years ago.

*shrug* I'm really not that big into geology. And anyway, we don't really know what it is they've done yet (destroying Littleroot Town aside), all we know is that they're evil.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
I know, I'm just tossing out possibilities and thoughts. Ultimately it's bob's call anyways. Also Im not big on geology either, but you don't have to be a geologist to know the difference between a full lake and a dry lake bed that you've seen with your own eyes within the time frame of 20 years lol.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
Not what I meant. I meant I wouldn't know, since I have no prior knowledge and do not have the sort of lakes you have down in Texas.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
You know I was thinking of mentioning this, then decided not to. Stupid me XD If Bob wants to he can make whatever changes he wants to to the landscape and story, and it'd be interesting to see what he comes up with. And as for limited access, I believe, and this is just my two cents, but I think we should have it that, say, Cain/Kayla/Kyouko go to Mauville. They deal with Obsidian there, and go on to wherever. However, maybe like they did in R/S/E, there could be a New Mauville-esque type dungeon for a new party. Say the generator there needs to be restarted or whatever. That'd be a job for Maya/Eli/Third Person Whose Name I Forget and Apologize For XD. Point is, I think everyone should be able to, eventually, go everywhere, just not at first.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
In regards to the water drying up, I've always pegged the bodies of water as seas or parts of the ocean, particularly because there are areas deep enough to dive and hold an entire city.

Eh that could be said for a lake too kh... Ive been diving in a lake. And it could hold a city...granted not a large one but it could.

Re: Team Obsidian OOC
I thought that you might bring that up but in my example for water drying up, I was specifically thinking of the area directly northeast of Oldale. Take a look at the map.

Try telling me THAT area could not dry up. -_-

Like the one I've been suffering through for the past 10 years? My point exactly. It. Could. Happen.
