Re: TITALWEEN: The Greatest of Holiday Topics
Like the Roman numeral? I always thought it was because CAPCOM was too lazy to bother with any sort of concrete timeline, going by what happened between X 5 and 6.
X5 Canon Ending: Three peaceful years later, something happens, and X goes out to deal with it!
X6 Intro: Three weeks after X5 happened... sh*t goes down!
See?
The thing about your theory is that it would make the difference between 20XX and 21XX to be 10,000 years instead of 100, and it would imply that every game in the same time period took place in the same year. And the first couple of games said 200X instead of 20XX, so that would imply a 181,000 year gap between two games, which Dr. Light wouldn't survive. And if he could survive that long, why would he die after another 10,000 years? That'd be relatively short, since he's an old man already, and 181,000 years clearly doesn't affect him much. It's like a fourty-year-old man expecting to die in a week, and finishing up his magnus opus as fast as he can before keeling over.

Re: TITALWEEN: The Greatest of Holiday Topics
While your point on Dr. Light isn't quite valid (after all, one day is nothing to an 80-year-old, and yet...), I'm not saying that I think it's true, I'm just saying I like to imagine it. I know it's rather stupid, since Battle Network does the same thing and features a grade-schooler, I just find the idea funny.

Re: TITALWEEN: The Greatest of Holiday Topics
I was bored, and felt the compulsion to point out exactly why it was implausible. I thought it would make it funnier, having new reasons for it to be ridiculous.
Rexial: Hey, Haar, did you ever beat Mega Man 2? I thought you said you came close to beating two and three.

Re: TITALWEEN: The Greatest of Holiday Topics
Rexial: I know SOMEBODY mentioned, at one point, that they only came close to beating the earlier games. Which is hilarious for different reasons: In 2, the fortress is hell, and if you don't conserve your Weapon Energy, you're royally screwed. In 3, the fortress is... f*cking easy. And they CONSTANTLY bombard you with E-Tanks. It's ridiculous.

Re: TITALWEEN: The Greatest of Holiday Topics
Yes, that was me. But I never beat them because I've been watching too much anime. I have for whatever reason lost all ability to do the platforming up until Neon Dragon in 2, and as far as 3, I'm just bad at doing Boss Rushes. Especially these ones, apparently.

*loads a song into the digital deck on the software, places a blank record on the turntable, and does a couple of test scratches*
I'm just going to put the system through it's paces, so it's all good for the 4th... even though I don't even celebrate it. Oh well, any excuse to mix!

*for this scenario, Doc is in a F16 fighter jet*

Doc: You don't question me, I question you.
Will: You're a 16 year old guy, who lurks in his basement. HOW THE FLYING HELL-
Doc:*ba dum tsss*
Will: -_- do you think you can fly a fighter jet?
Doc: This is the internet. Anything is possible.
Will: I seriously can't f*cking let you do this.
Doc: o.o MY CHARACTERS HAVE BECOME A SEPERATE ENTITY! *flies away*
Will: I have an urge to shoot him down.
Blake: So we're seperate beings and not figments of Doc's mind?
Will: Sadly not.
Doc: *flying the F16 like a pro*
Will:How...-_-'
Blake: Will...
Will: How how how how HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW. HOW. HOW!

Re: TITALWEEN: The Greatest of Holiday Topics
Nebula: Well, to be fair, all of my characters are like separate entities, in a way, but they're still just figments. I can tell when one would disagree with me, or what they would do in a situation, but generally, I can use them effectively as a mouthpiece, depending on what I have to say. For example, Nebula here may be a berserker with enough firepower to level a city building, but he's also a technician with an affinity for explaining this crap.
Rexial: And I'm the king of emphasis, b*tch! I'm perfect for swearing purely for comedic effect or to drive the point home, or making violent threats. I'm also pretty good with being unimpressed, for when my author needs to be at odds with somebody.
Nebula: ... ...Right now, I'm being the mouthpiece for the writer you all know, for a number of reasons. First of all, you don't know this character very well at all, so you're not distracted by the character, and can focus on the person talking through him. Second, his name is in the username. Third, I'm probably the character most embedded in the guy's psyche, and am technically his first OC ever. Been in the guy's brain in some form since he was, like, eight or nine years old! Rexial is probably the second-most-embedded in his brain, but that's 'cuz he was the guy's first Kingdom Hearts OC.
Rexial: ...The hell was the point of that?
Nebula: Felt like explaining stuff.
Rexial: Seriously?
Nebula: Actually, I also wanted to say that it's easy to fly an aircraft on the internet, since it's as easy as typing that you are. The hardest things to do are the ones that require careful attention to detail.
Rexial: So, you ranted for two paragraphs about pointless side-chatter.
Nebula: ... *Ahem* As you all can see, Rexial's got the part of my brain that likes to contradict me, whether it's important, whether I'm right or not, regardless, he makes me think twice.
Rexial: Don't ignore me, you metallic bastard!

Haar: And then the floating disembodied head of Colonel Sanders started yelling
EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG,
Black is white up is down and short is long,
And everything you thought was just so important doesn't matter
EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG,
Just forget the words and sing along,
All you need to understand is everything you know is wrong!
That 's what I think of every time I hear "Colonel Sanders"
