Not much to say about any of these. I voted for the character I recognize, at least by name, in every instance, or else I abstained if I don't know either character. And in the case of a draw, I really don't care if my vote is ignored, since none of them were made on any premise barring "Oh, hey, I know this character's name."

Lucy Heartfilia (Fairy Tail) v Aya Brea (Parasite Eve)

Tough one, actually. While I wanna say Aya's better, I also don't want to completely disregard Lucy. I'm a big fan of characters who grow to be awesome, and show off their courage by going against foes they know they probably can't beat, and somehow manage anyway. Aya doesn't actually receive a whole lot of character development, I seem to recall, and is mostly just reacting to the crazy revelations about her mother, sister, Eve, and her own body. On the surface, I liked Aya better, since she's a kickass policewoman who pursues a woman who sets an entire audience on fire without touching them with her service pistol and wearing a dress, while Lucy just seems like your typical overly-bouncy heroine made for fanservice at first glance. Rrgh, this one's not easy to pick, but I think I'll go with Lucy. Sorry, Aya, but you probably have Edgar's vote at least!

Ryuko Matoi (Kill La Kill) v Asuna Yuki (Sword Art Online)

Badass swordswomen? Hm... Ryuko is a much more delinquent, shonen hero type, while Asuna has a more elegant fighting style and isn't the main character. While I love the craziness of Kill La Kill, I actually like what character development Asuna gets, and her design appeal to me a bit more in terms of style. No offense Ryuko.

Akame (Akame Ga Kill) v Mikasa Ackerman (Attack on Titan)

...I know very little about Mikasa - never saw AoT - and NOTHING about Akame. I may choose for flimsy reasons, but I'm not choosing somebody based on the way their name sounds.

Arturia Pendragon (Fate/Zero) v Hinata (Naruto)

Yeah, dunno these two any better.

Faye Valentine (Cowboy Bebop) v Yoruchi Shihouin (Bleach)

Oh, I did read a little of the Cowboy Bebop manga and watch some of Bleach. Gonna go with Faye Valentine, though it is kind of a tough call.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA yeah, no thanks Fairy Tail. I refuse to watch you until the anime is either proven to be reasonable and not copyright infringing (don't make me pull up the comparison picture to Shanks, don't make me!), and unfortunately until such a time I have to vote Aya, for the reasons Gregar outlined. Kickass indeed.

There's gonna be a lot of tomboys on my votes, and I kind of sort of apologize for that. Unfortunately I haven't seen anything of Sword Art yet and while miss Asuna might be a fantastic character, I really connected with Ryuko's unwavering dedication even if doing so nearly killed her every single time. That and having to bounce back after a really shocking revelation and having one of the absolute best climax fights ever? Yes please, miss Matoi.

I... yeah. Only heard of Akame, actually watched AoT. Whups.

Arturia Pendragon (Fate/Zero) v Hinata (Naruto)
I refuse to vote on this one because I know nothing about one and despise Hinata for being a dumb wallflower for 95% of the series, at which point she kind of... exists... sorta. Not even really. If it was someone like Sakura or Tsunade or Naruto's mom? Sure, I'd vote for them, maybe, but Naruto is a series I'm just not fond of any more.

I like you for that sir. Cheers.
But yeah, going Cowboy Bebop because even though I've experienced less of it as a media Bleach doesn't strike me as going to be that well-written.

I really want to read Steins; at some point but I've never been able to yet. That said, bravo to Nami for being a rather interesting character in a series full of heartbreaking backstories. Seriously, you might think One piece is all fun and games.

Yeah, I'm in agreement...to a degree. Thing is though...those kinda go away the farther into the bracket we get. The ones we don't recognize fall away in favor of the ones we do, and then the characters we like go up against each other. I will say I don't really like voting on a character just on the basis that I've heard of them or know their name or have seen their series and not the other, though. Really, the only reason I put in a vote for the first round here at all is because I said I was interested, and I didn't want to say that and then not vote.

Anyone else thinking maybe we should nominate characters and see if there's support for them? A sort of "preliminary," if you will. Just a thought that might help relieve some of the "I know this name" votes.

Those both sound like good ideas. Haar's sounds like it requires more effort, and we'll be in trouble if we don't actually have enough characters in common to participate, but Edgar's sounds less fun, deciding who's the best within a series.

Did... did I stutter? This is literally exactly what Haar said. We vote /on/ the series as the preliminary. *shrug* Like, most of us know Persona, some of us know about SMT, a few of us know about the Tales games, literally everyone at least knows about Mario and Zelda games, etc etc.

So having at least a majority vote for a series was my idea, and then the character battle happens. I honestly don't know how you guys got this other idea. :/

Come back from a crazy work schedule to see I've lost my topic XD I do understand the situation. I try to avoid the unknowns as best I can by literally going after mostly mainstream anime. I do understand, again, that I used some (ie Akame Ga Kill) that are lesser known. I'm all for having a voting system to pick entrants. Would make it where I could seed, rather than just let random generation do the job.

So. If we were to restart this bracket (ANIME Heroines) what's your guys' suggestions?

We going for main characters specifically, or are secondary characters fine? If the former, the only one I can think of is Jolyne Cujoh/Kujo (I can't find a consistent spelling for that...). If the latter, a few more come to mind, though they're all from (somewhat) less well-known series or just plain not that interesting.

I'm gonna wait for clarification on this one to pitch in. If it's female leads, like say, not exactly THE main character but fairly prominent (Kagome from InuYasha, for example) then I, and probably the others, would have MUCH more success.
